Dollumar mats are excellent, especially if u want to roll em up after session and store. Thick, easy to clean, can definitely do stand up without worry of impact hitting ground. I'd be leery doing same with puzzle mats. Resilites are great if it's staying in one place for long period, good luck rolling by yourself and carrying. My dollumars are cut into 2 halves, each weighing maybe 40lbs rolled up, easily moveable..together make 12'x12' area.

2" is fine for groundfighting.
Be aware there are many different surface patterns, though.
Some more resemble a cheese grinder, while others are gentle to the skin but make loud screetching noise when skin rubs on them...
The best I have encountered have an alternating pattern of squares about 2" size where each of these squares has horizontal or vertical stripe-ripples. These are very gentle to the skin (no cheese grinder), and do not make loud noise, yet still provide very good grip.

Do not get fooled by the bad reviews about the mats sliding very easily, you´re not gonna do stand-up yoga practice where it might be bothersome for the whole mats to slide on a polished floor... For groundfighting the sliding can be ignored and its the mats sliding on the floor, not the feet sliding on the mats:-)

Could you post a link/image of the mats?

The ones I consider the best are of this style:
http://www.maeqd.com/product-9953-macho-puzzle-mats.html

That´s not the exact ones I bought, mine where cheaper, but then I ordered them in europe and got them delivered to europe, but they came from china, not sure what the difference in price might be to deliver to the states;-)

But that is that "alternating square" pattern I was talking asbout, the best surface for grappling I have encountered. And I was lucky to visit quite some guys who owned different types of mats right before I made my decision:-)
