check out russian fight sites. they do regular "knights in armour with swords" fights including in a ring as part of mma promotions. swords are not sharp so the fighters just beat the crap out of each other until one goes down.
Why not swords and shields, and the other tools of the gladiator era? They could be made with with plastic 'bones' and soft rubber surfaces so that nobody gets seriously injured.
There is a Renaissance festival held near me each year. They actually joust at it with blunt tipped lances, and genuinely try to knock each other off their horses. If they can do that I see no reason why it wouldn't be possible to recreate a gladiator era battle without serious injury.
So recently I’ve been browsing for the REAL (Or as close as you can get) gladiator experience, eat, train, fight like a gladiator. Sadly I can’t find no such place on the planet!
This got me thinking that perhaps some guys in the U.K. would be interested in having gladiator style matches. MMA Style combat to the (fake) death. An ultimate test of one personas sheer will against the others. Maybe even 1v1v1. Or even more.
Now I’m not saying bring swords and shields but a good hard solid grapple until the loser cannot go on and the victor prevails.
Just hope to hear your ideas gentlemen.
