The goal of this game is to give a wrestler a rating for his endurance skills. You need two players (the wrestler and the examiner), a pre-agreed list of wrestling holds (let’s assume 10) and a way of taking random numbers (let’s say a deck of cards).
The game starts with a random hold. For example, have only cards between ace and ten, take one at random, and the examiner applies the respective hold to the wrestler.
The wrestler gets:
- 5 points if they can free themselves within one minute
- 4 points if they can free themselves in between one and two minutes
- 3 points if they get to the end of the two minutes without tapping out
- 2 points if they tap out between one and two minutes
- 1 point if they tap out in the first minute.
Passing out is equivalent to tapping out in terms of points. The difference is that tapping out carries a punishment - 30 seconds of a vicious attack (e.g., gut punching). Also if the wrestler taps out, the examiner chooses the next hold. In all other cases, the next hold is determined at random. Previous holds cannot be repeated
At the end of the game, either because you reached a certain time limit or there are no more cards, divide the number of points by the number of holds executed, round it and get:
- 5 stars: you are a beast of a wrestler and give no chance to your enemies
- 4 stars: you are a great wrestler, and your fights are amazing to watch
- 3 stars: you are a versatile wrestler, and a dream as a jobber
- 2 stars: you can be a good jobber but have to work on your endurance
- 1 star: keep practising, I’m sure you’ll find examiners that will love to help you improve, or heels who will enjoy punishing you as much as you enjoy being punished.
Variations of the game with a deck of cards may include:
- hearts ♥️ : the examiner can get a bit naughty and add some intimate flavour to the hold
- diamonds ♦️ : tapping out will be ignored
- clubs ♣️: double the times - make it four minutes instead of two
- spades ♠️: the examiner can come up with any variation on the basic hold
I love it! Both variations are interesting! The anticipation of what a card would reveal adds excitement to the experience and I think that’s awesome! 🤩👌
And the 10 holds you suggest are also cool!
