My 1st Blog - Catz Club Nottingham - Pictures of the spring loaded wrestling ring.
My very 1st blog!!! I don't usually do these but when I found out we could upload pics to our blogs I thought I just had to share pics of this venue we've discovered.
As many of you know, I organise monthly events at 3 locations in rotation.
Due to circumstances I won't go into on here we had to find a new venue. Some of our regular guys had mentioned the Catz Club in Nottingham so I went to check it out. It looked perfect for the events and so I booked it for the first time on Saturday 1st December 2012.
I knew the place had great potential for the kind of events I organise but what I was not expecting was how good the ring is for Pro Wrestling. It's spring loaded so brilliant for those slams and other "bouncy" pro moves.
It does have some limitations - you can't get too high on the ropes or you'll bump your head on the ceiling. It's also at one end of the room with walls on 3 sides of the ring. All that said though it is fantastic to wrestle in.
We were very impressed with this venue. It was very warm too, maybe too warm at times lol.
I have booked 4 more events at the venue so check the event calendar for the dates. http://www.meetfighters.com/events
If you want any more details of this place then please contact me. You can also check out their website - http://www.catzclub.co.uk
I know this sounds like an advert for the venue but I was really impressed with the facilities and wanted to share this find with anyone interested.
So endeth my 1st blog :-)

There is a shower and 2 small changing areas.
The mats at the venue are the thin jigsaw type at the moment.
They do have a large number of these although I'm not sure what the total size is.
There is another room as large as the ring room and they have mats they can put in there too.
We are thinking of donating the 40mm thick 12 x 1m sq Grapevine Wrestling group mats to the venue for a reduction in the cost of hire. This will not be until early in 2013 though.
This will greatly improve the facilities for our kind of events and for others using the venue.

03.12.2012 20:52Fantastic, how many guys do you reckon the venue can hold at one time?

I would say about 20 would be comfortable but it could hold more.
Probably 4 or 5 matches could be on the go at the same time.

04.12.2012 13:51I can confirm that what Dave says is right, it's a great place, the ring is high and very springy, and unlike some others the ropes are tight, so you can use them properly. The place is very close to Nottingham Railway station, which is a sensible way to get there, as being close to the city centre parking is at least £5 for over 2 hours, but there is also a good park and ride service which I think is £1, great venue I'll def be using it.

Here are some details of the Car Parks and Park & Ride Service with links to the websites.
There are 2 Car Parks close by - Nottingham Castle Car Park (open-air, £3 for 2-hours, sat nav postcode NG1 7EH) or the Arndale Car Park (multi-storey, £5 for 2-hours, sat nav postcode NG1 6AE). From either car park you are only a 1-minute walk from the unit.
Other car park options including the nearby Broad Marsh Car Park can be found on the following website http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2981
A cheaper parking alternative is the Nottingham Park and Ride service - http://www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=912
